I wanted to post some quick logs of the small tools/knick knack apps I’ve made personally this year outside of my job, team projects, or paid contracts. I am trying to sharpen my skillset as a developer and build more useful things for fellow worldbuilders.
I made a lot of music this year too, particularly recently. But it was, above all, a year of building and stretching my abilities.
Paintmoji! (https://usselman.github.io/paintmoji/)
Paintmoji! is a quick app to draw using emojis. Right now it can do variable brush size, export pictures, undo/redo, and a selection of ten emojis.
Need to do:
allow any emojis
allow mp4 video export
erase
normal draw brushes + shapes
DitherQuest (https://usselman.github.io/ditherQuest/)
DitherQuest is an application to dither any image based on a random color palette. It needs some tweaking because the dithering algorithm often makes too much transparency in the image than is desirable. I’d also like to add a few different types of dithering, as currently it’s pixel-based and I’d like to move to Atkinson dithering to get smooth circles for a more pleasant effect.
(B)Lock Time Calculator (https://usselman.github.io/block-calculator/)
A useful tool for the new locking protocol as demonstrated on https://hodlocker.com. Basically a Bitcoin block calculator, which takes halvenings into account.
A Fantasian Chronicle (https://usselman.github.io/a-fantasian-chronicle/)
A procedurally generated book filled with endless pages of fictional history, myths, hadiths, and religious songs from a different realm. I still have a lot of material to write for this so it reads better and is actually interesting. But it has been a fun exercise, and I used this concept in a few of the game projects my studio has been working on.
MUDBot (https://github.com/usselman/MUDbot)
MUDBot is a GPT-enabled worldbuilding ‘dumb AI’ bot I made for my discord server. He is a work in progress. I was for a time using GPT to ‘summarize’ the bot’s generated events, which lead to some cool outcomes. I’d like to expand on this bot in the future for potential game systems.
Toplock (work in progress)
I don’t know exactly what form Toplock will take just yet, but I started to build an application that could basically take on-chain data, indexed by locking protocol, and display it in an interface. The idea being that eventually I could parse the BMAP data of each ‘post’ and, essentially, create a music indexer for on-chain social media. It’s coming along but working with on-chain data is the next frontier as far as I’m concerned.
